I am a 47 year old female with diabetes type 2. I have recurring constipation frequently and have to take me?
I have to take metamucil daily. It becomes severe with abdominal pain and nausea at times. As a young child I was allergic to milk and thought I’d outgrown it but my dr. wants me to stop all dairy products for 2 weeks to see if I am lactose intolerant. This has been going on for over 2 years. Do you have any ideas?
I really couldn’t tell you what might be causing your constipation, but I do know something that works miracles for it – epsom salt. If you put a couple of spoonfuls in a glass of water and drink it, it cleans you out like no other, hah. That’s if you can get past the taste, however.
Diabetes has nothing to do with the constipation. Do you have enough dietary fiber in your diet? Have you had a colonoscopy or have you met with a gastrointestinal specialist? There are lots of potential causes of constipation. You may have irritable bowel syndrome or spastic coloitis, or some other colon disorder. It is worth having a seeing a GI doc and having a colonoscopy to rule out all potential issues.
